Using your own blood product for healing and rejuvenation (PRP Therapy) is a concept originating from wound healing and orthopedic research. When whole blood is separated into its components by centrifuge, the liquid portion containing platelets, plasma, and dissolved naturally-occurring growth factors can be isolated. This PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is highly beneficial in reversing many of the signs of aging. Typical benefits include increased smoothness, improved elasticity, and “that healthy glow”. These changes are related to the amount of PRP that penetrates the outer skin layer, thereby activating the existing multipotent stem cells to develop and stimulate new collagen, healthier connective tissue, more micro blood vessels, and new micro fat cells, all that regularly repairs older skin. Depending on the individual and the specific procedures, these effects improve for 2-3 months and last for up to 2 years.
How Is PRP Obtained?
One or two tubes of blood are drawn from an arm vein. These are then spun in a centrifuge for 10 minutes, separating the platelets plasma and growth factors from the rest of the blood. The PRP is then applied to the treated skin, either topically or by injection. Major benefits include improved skin texture and tone, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, regrowth and thickening of lost or thinning hair, and improvement of scar treatments and stretch mark treatments.
How Is PRP Given?
The skin normally functions to prevent things from entering the body. By introducing PRP through therapeutic breaks in the skin, the PRP can do its magic.
- PRP Injections: stand-alone treatments for the face, the most popular method in Europe, stimulates new collagen, enhances microcirculation and regrowth of new healthy skin. It is also perfect for stretch marks and loose, crepey skin. It takes several months for the full results to be seen, but it is impressive. The growth factors start working immediately, and the injected platelets are activated and release additional growth factors that accelerate the desired effects.
- PRP with Injectable Fillers: the most popular method in the U.S., combines the volume replacement of injectable fillers with the skin-enhancing qualities of PRP. By directly injecting the PRP with the fillers, the full benefit of the PRP is delivered directly where it produces the maximal benefits. Addresses most of the major issues contributing to premature or undesirable signs of aging skin. Very effective for reduction of wrinkles, and for improving appearance around the eyes and mouth.
- PRP + Microneedling: also known as collagen induction therapy, micro needling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure using a device that contains fine needles. The microneedling pen is programmable to puncture the skin thousands of times per minute in a highly controlled fashion – each puncture creates a microchannel that triggers the body to produce collagen and elastin to fill the channels. By applying PRP immediately before and after the micro needling, the desired bio-cellular products are introduced into and retained by the treated skin, producing the desired benefits.
- PRP For Sexual Health
- PRP For Joints
Vaginal PRP rejuvenation
Vaginal PRP rejuvenation is usually part of an integrative approach to help women with sexual dysfunction. This is an office procedure with minimal downtime. PRP is injected into the base of the clitoris, the anterior wall of the vagina with the aim of improving sensitivity and orgasm with intercourse.
PRP penile injection
PRP injection to the corpus cavernosa of the penis helps with sexual dysfunction. PRP is one of the most advanced and effective natural treatment for cellular repair as well as rejuvenation.
PRP joint injections
PRP can be injected into the joints to help accelerate the healing of the joints which are damaged due to injury from age or other reasons. PRP is especially effective for tennis elbow, golfers elbow, knee joints, shoulder injuries, and other sports injuries.
