Botox® / Xeomin®

Mechanism of Action
All these muscle relaxants/neuromodulators act by binding to the pre-synaptic membrane of the motor neurons and cleaves the SNAP-25 in motor neurons. This inhibits the release of acetylcholine at the motor endplate which relaxes/paralyzes the muscle.
Differences between Botox, Xeomin, Dysport
Botox is a 900KD molecule which has proteins surrounding the botulinum toxin. Xeomin is known as the “naked molecule” as it does not have any proteins surrounding the Botilinum toxin. Dysport surrounds the botulinum toxin with a combination of 350 and 500 KD protein.
